The Semiotic Meaning of Visual Grammar——Taking Interpreter’s Notes as an Example

口译员笔记不仅是记忆存储工具,而且是具有内在逻辑和由口译实践经验形成的意义潜势,本质上是一种视觉语言。从社会符号学的角度探讨口译员做笔记的方式。首先,在特定交际语境中,视觉语法不是将符号视为静态代码,而是把符号重新概念化,这种创造性的语义资源能实现和传达特定的交际意图。其次,视觉语法不仅解释了书面语言是如何在口译员笔记中使用,还阐释了具有交际意义的图像资源是如何通过口译员笔记进行编码和解释。

An interpreter’s notes are not only a tool of memory storage,but also have internal logic and meaning potential formed by the practical experience of interpreting and are essentially a visual language.This article explores the way interpreters take notes from a socio-semiotic perspective.First,in a specific communicative context,Visual Grammar does not regard symbols as static codes,but reconceptualizes symbols.This creative semantic resource can realize and convey specific communicative intentions.Second,visual grammar not only explains how written language is used in interpreter notes,but also how communicatively meaningful pictorial resources are encoded and interpreted through interpreter notes.
