The English Translation Strategies of Reduplicated Words in the Nahki Poem“The Song of Migration”

《鲁般鲁饶》是纳西族民间叙事长诗的代表作.诗中的叠词使用情况复杂多变,叠词在少数民族诗歌中具有多种句法功能和文本属性。其中大量叠词在译为英文时,对于相同和不同的叠词,都具有鲜明的翻译特点。为了保持原文意蕴,除逐词翻译外,还灵活运用了替代法、释义法、省略法等多种翻译方法,尽可能地保留音美和形美。

The Song of Migration(Lu Ban Lu Rao)is the representative work of Nakhi long narrative poems.The use of reduplicated words in the poem is complex and changeable,which have multiple syntactic functions and textual attributes in minority poetry.When translating a large number of reduplicated words into English,both identical and different reduplicated words have distinct translation characteristics.In order to maintain the unique form and connotation of the original,in addition to interlinear translation,various translation methods such as replacement translation,explanation translation,and omission translation were also flexibly used to preserve the beauty in sound and accuracy in form as much as possible.
