Hunan Pioneering Newspapers and Periodicals in Early Marxism Dissemination During May Fourth Movement

五四时期湖南先进知识分子积极兴办报刊,将其作为宣传马克思主义的重要途径,爱国和革命成为当时湖南报刊宣传的主题。湖南进步报刊是马克思主义早期传播的主要大众媒介,其中发挥重要作用的进步报刊主要有《湘江评论》《新湖南》和《湖南通俗报》。湖南进步报刊比较系统地介绍了马克思主义,积极传播新思想,与当时的马克思主义组织和进步书社联结成马克思主义的宣传阵地,使马克思主义早期传播取得了较好的效果,为后期革命运动和湖南早期党团组织的成立奠定了思想和理论基础。

During the May Fourth Movement,Hunan pioneering intellectuals actively ran patriotic and revolutionary newspapers and periodicals to publicize Marxism.These newspapers and periodicals were the major mass media in the early dissemination process of Marxism,among which Xiangjiang Review,New Hunan,and Hunan Popular Newspapers played an important role.These newspapers and periodicals,united with Marxist organizations and revolutionary bookstores as the publicity fronts,introduced Marxism in a systematic and critical way,and inspired people a lot at that time,leading to a satisfactory effect of early Marxism dissemination and a solid foundation for the up-coming revolution and the establishment of early CPC and Communist Youth League organizations.
