诗人骑驴是古代文人津津乐道的话题,当今学界多以为布衣诗人骑驴,在朝诗人骑马,然而事实未必如此。孟浩然是著名的骑驴布衣诗人代表,孟浩然骑驴图是诗人骑驴图的代表性画题。但孟浩然其实是骑马诗人,王维所画的孟浩然像也未必是骑驴图,只因布衣身份与诗穷而后工、好诗在驴背的美学观念,改造为骑驴诗人。属官诗人也是主要的骑驴群体,这一群体数量庞大,大多的朝官都经历过属官骑驴诗人的阶段,生活贫寒、历史惯例、政治体制等因素造就了骑驴属官诗人群体。
