Southeast Asian Language Majors and the Construction and Development of Southeast Asian Studies in China-From Language Support to Subject Support

过去80年来,中国的东南亚语言专业积极参与到中国东南亚学的建构和发展进程中,并做出了应有的贡献。在西方和日本的东南亚研究中,世界史和政治学学科更重视作为必备工具的当地语言,尤其是早期那些被认为是东南亚研究的一流学者。中国的东南亚学在人才培养和学科建设方面,从理论上来说,东南亚语言是不可或缺的,但是在实践层面仍然面临诸多挑战。

In the past 80 years,Southeast Asian language majors have actively participated in the construction and development of Southeast Asian Studies in China and made proper contributions.Compared with Western and Japanese Southeast Asian studies,their world history and political science disciplines pay more attention to the necessary tools of local languages,especially those regarded as leading scholars in Southeast Asian studies.Southeast Asian Studies in China,in the field of talent training and discipline construction in Southeast Asian studies,are theoretically indispensable,but in practice,there are still many challenges.
