摘要 This summer brought a barrage of extreme weather events such as heat waves waves, forest, fires, and floods around the globe.China and ASEAN countries also felt the pain.“There is high confidence that human-induced climate change from greenhouse emissions is the main driver,”said Alvaro Silva,a climate expert with the United Nation’s World Meteorological Organization(WMO).“This gives us the long-term context for the increasing occurrence and severity of such extreme weather and extreme events.”The governments of all countries are looking for ways to decarbonize and achieve a sustainable transition to a greener economy.ASEAN is one of the most sensitive regions to climate change. All member states have committed efforts to reduce emissions, but rapid economic and demographic growth has led to a continuous rise in energy demand. Thus,China and ASEAN share an urgent mission to address climate change and enjoy ample room for cooperation.
