Known as Father of Chicano literature,Rudolfo Anaya,a contemporary Chicano American writer, focuses on reflecting regional reality of American Southwest. In his masterpiece Bless Me,Ultima,he writes about the growth of Antonio,a Chicano boy, with the key theme of ethnic individual and group identification. The novel represents Chicano people’s attachment to ancestral land to construct community of locality, and reveals the identification anxieties incurred by European colonization and cultural assimilation, which lead to violence and division among ethnic community. The novel aims to reconstruct ethnic bond and spiritual belonging in the worship of nature to celebrate life community. Therefore,Anaya’s ethnicity writing vividly maps out the landscape of ethnic cultural experience and regional situation of American Southwest.
