"Five Times to the East and West of Shu"--Research on Zhao Bian's Being Magistrate of Chengdu Prefecture

历来研究士大夫政治,对于士大夫在中央政治中的作为较为关注,而在地方上的施政,则较少瞩目。有着“铁面御史”美誉的北宋名臣赵抃,晚年再知成都府。其施政、交游乃至心路历程,作为一件个案,检索几乎现存所有资料进行的考述,可以为宋代士大夫的地方施政提供一个广角式的全息影像。这一考察,不仅希望填补迄今为止的研究空白,更希望通过个别推及普遍,使士大夫政治在地方的贯彻在一定程度上得以展现。

The study of scholar-bureaucrat politics has always paid more attention to the achievements of literati and officialdom in central politics,while less attention has been paid to local governance.Zhao Bian,a famous official in the Northern Song Dynasty with the reputation of"Disinterested Imperial Official",was appointed to be magistrate of Chengdu prefecture again in his later years.As a single case,his governance,friends-making and mental journey,and almost all existing materials about him,can provide a holographic image for the local governance of the scholar-bureaucrats in the Song Dynasty.Hopefully,this investigation has not only filled the research gap so far,but also shown the implementation of scholar-bureaucrat politics in the local area to a certain extent.
