翻译目的论视角下《喜福会》中译本文化负载词翻译策略对比研究

A Comparative Study of Culture-loaded Word Translation Strategies in Two Chinese Versions of The Joy Luck Club from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

《喜福会》中译本现有研究鲜少涉及文化负载词的翻译问题。为此,借鉴汉斯·威密尔(Hans Vermeer)的翻译目的论(skopos theory),以《喜福会》(The Joy Luck Club)第一章田青1992年译本和程乃珊、严映薇1992年译本对六类文化负载词的翻译作为研究对象,运用对比的研究方法,解析几位译者针对文化负载词所采取的翻译策略。研究认为,几位译者灵活采取了归化、异化、音译、直译、意译甚至省译等翻译策略;几位译者译本中的不足,如结合其翻译目的审视,亦可得到解释。试图填补《喜福会》文化负载词翻译这一研究空白,并为美籍华裔文学翻译实践提供一定的方法借鉴。

Current studies on Chinese translations of The Joy Luck Club seldom focus on the translation of culture-loaded words.Therefore,culture-loaded word translations in both Tian Qing’s and Cheng Naishan and Yan Yingwei’s Chinese versions of the novel are taken as the research objects and contrasted from the perspective of Hans Vermeer’s skopos theory,with the aim to analyze the translation strategies adopted by the translators when dealing with such words.The study finds that the translators make use of translation strategies such as domestication,alienation,transliteration,literal translation,free translation and even omission.The shortcomings in both versions could make sense when their translation purposes are taken into consideration.This study tries to fill in gaps in previous studies and supply related translation strategies for the translation of Chinese American literature.
