后殖民语境下的网络小说《斗破苍穹》英译研究

A Study on the Translation of the Web Novel Battle Through the Heavens in the Postcolonial Context

《斗破苍穹》入选中国网络文学影响力榜30强,其海外阅读量突破1亿人次,读者评论超过100万条,涵盖有声、动漫、影视等多种IP改编形式,是中国文学在海外传播的成功案例。然而,国内对《斗破苍穹》英译本的研究才刚刚起步。文章选取《斗破苍穹》英译本为个案,从后殖民主义翻译视角出发,从文本特征、英译策略、受众互动三个方面探讨网络小说英译本建构中国文化身份的路径,揭示网络小说《斗破苍穹》海外传播的重要意义。首先,《斗破苍穹》中构建的“异空间”和“成长的勇者”形象既包含西方的奇幻元素,也满足了海外读者对中国传统文化的神秘幻想,是中西方文化的杂合。其次,英译本在保证译文可读性的同时,也尽可能忠实地再现原文的文化形象,有利于中国文化的传播和中国文化身份的构建。再者,译文读者对中国网络小说《斗破苍穹》兴趣浓厚,并主动学习中国文化,消除文化差异带来的阅读壁垒和障碍,成为中国文化的传播者。通过这三种方式,《斗破苍穹》英译本成功建构了中国文化身份,为中国网络文学海外传播提供了参考和借鉴价值。

Battle Through the Heavens was selected as one of the top 30 influential Chinese online literature,with more than 100 million overseas views and more than 1 million reader comments,covering various IP adaptation forms such as audio,animation,film and television,thus becoming a successful case of Chinese literature spreading overseas.However,domestic research on the English version of Battle Through the Heavens has just begun.In this context,this paper,with the English version Battle Through the Heavens as a case,explores the three ways that contribute to the successful construction of Chinese cultural identity in the translation of web novels from the perspective of post-colonialism translation.Firstly,the images of"the alien space"and"the growing warrior"depicted in the original text not only comprise Western fantasy elements,but also satisfy the mysterious fantasies overseas readers harbor about traditional Chinese culture,which is the hybridity of Chinese and Western cultures.Secondly,the translator not only ensures the readability of the translation,but also faithfully reproduces the cultural images of the original text as much as possible,which is conducive to the dissemination of Chinese culture and the construction of Chinese cultural identity.Thirdly,overseas readers always show strong interest in Chinese web novels,have been actively engaged in the learning of Chinese culture to bridge the barriers caused by cultural differences,and they have consequently assumed the role of communicators of Chinese culture.Owned to these three ways,Battle Through the Heavens has achieved successful construction of Chinese cultural identity,providing references for the construction of Chinese cultural identity.
