Harmonious Coexistence between Humans and Nature:The Role of Traditional Ecological Wisdom in China's Path to Modernization

党的二十大报告明确提出人与自然和谐共生是中国式现代化的鲜明特色与本质要求之一。该理念的提出和发展既是基于我国经济建设与改革开放发展的生态实践,亦离不开我国传统文化生态智慧深厚的理论土壤与文化根基。中华优秀传统文化中蕴含着深厚的人与自然和谐共生的生态智慧,儒家的民胞物与、重时尚中、仁民爱物,道家的以万物为刍狗、道法自然、寡欲节用等思想充分体现了中华传统文化尊重生命价值、尊重自然规律以及中国自古向往的天人合一、人与自然和谐共生的文化理念和价值追求。在推进中国式现代化生态文明法治建设进程中应充分吸收和借鉴中华优秀传统文化生态智慧之精华,加快推进环境法典编纂、夯实环境法治建设基础,强化绿色司法实践、促进人与自然和谐共生发展,坚持绿色低碳、积极参与国际生态文明法治建设,为国际环境法治发展贡献中国式多元纠纷解决方案。

Achieving harmony between humanity and nature is one of the essential requirements of Chinese modernization and a distinctive theme in Xi Jinping's Thoughts on ecological civilization.This paper examines the traditional ecological wisdom based on Xi Jinping's ecological civilization,traces the origins of the value concept of"harmonious coexistence of humans and nature"in traditional culture,and explores its significance in guiding contemporary ecological civilization and rules of law construction.Confucianism,Taoism,and Buddhism have provided theoretical elucidations of the ecological ethical wisdom of"harmonious coexistence of humans and nature"through different paths of argumentation.Confucian values,such as humaneness and respect for life,Taoist principles of natural harmony and the Tao,and Buddhist beliefs in equality,reflecting the traditional cultural values of respecting life,recognizing the laws of nature,and seeking harmony between heaven and man.The construction of ecological civilization and rule of law should draw inspiration from ancient traditional ecological wisdom.The development of environmental codes should be driven by the concept of"harmony between heaven and man",carbon legislation should be strengthened with the idea of"the Way follows nature",and the participation in international ecological rule of law construction should be guided by the spirit of"humaneness and respect for life".
