《旱土》是澳大利亚当代作家西娅·阿斯特利最后一部也是最受好评的作品。从水旱二元分析的角度分析昆士兰州这个所谓的旱土小镇中芸芸众生的生活,发现人物的命运与水和干旱紧密关联,小镇居民不堪干旱困扰,纷纷逃离旱土,奔向沿海地区寻求避难。小说通过对后殖民时代被边缘化了的原著居民悲惨生存状态的描述,以期唤醒人们对他们苦难生活的同情。

Drylands is the last and most acclaimed work of contemporary Australian writer Thea Astley.Based upon dual analysis of water and drought,the paper analyzes the lives of all living beings in a so-called Drylands in Queensland and finds that the fate of the characters is closely related to water and drought.The residents are troubled by drought and flee the dry land to the coast to seek refuge.The novel shows readers the tragic living conditions of the marginalized indigenous peoples in the post-colonial era and awakens people’s sympathy.
