基于语料库的《伤寒论》英译本翻译风格比较研究

A Corpus-based Comparative Study on Translation Style of Two English Versions of Shang Han Lun

本文利用语料库的方法,选取《伤寒论》的两个英译本(罗希文译本、魏迺杰译本)作为研究对象,围绕词汇、句子和语篇层面,开展翻译风格比较研究。研究发现,罗希文译本倾向于使用意译法,用词更为丰富多样,句式表达更为灵活,注重译文的易读性和可接受性;而魏迺杰译本则倾向于使用直译法,句式结构较为复杂,注重译文与原文语言结构的一致性和准确性。两译本在翻译风格上的差异可能与译者的翻译目的、翻译策略和知识背景的不同有关。

This paper aims at making a corpus-based comparative study on the translation style of Luo Xiwen and Nigel Wiseman’s English versions of Shang Han Lun from lexical,syntactic and discourse aspects.It is found that Luo Xiwen attaches importance to the translation’s readability and acceptability,and prefers to the using of free translation,more abundant words and flexible sentence structures.While Nigel Wiseman pays attention to the translation’s consistence and correctness with the source text,and tends to use literal translation and complex sentence structures.The differences between the two versions can be accounted for by three factors:translator’s translating principles,translator’s translating strategies and personal knowledge background.
