How Digital Economy Affects Modernization of China's Industrial Chain:Internal Mechanism and Empirical Evidence

数字经济对我国经济的重要性与日俱增,产业链现代化是我国经济建设的战略任务,那么数字经济如何赋能产业链现代化?为了回答这一现实命题,本文从理论层面梳理了数字经济发展对我国产业链现代化的内在影响机制,在科学测度数字经济发展水平和产业链现代化水平的基础上,通过多种计量模型实证检验数字经济发展对产业链现代化的影响效应。研究发现:第一,数字经济的发展能够推动产业链现代化,该结论经过内生性检验、“国家级大数据综合试验区”作为准自然实验等一系列稳健性检验后,依然成立;第二,数字经济能够通过促进科技创新和人力资本水平提升间接推动产业链现代化;第三,数字经济的影响存在显著的门槛效应,只有当科技创新和人力资本水平达到一定门槛,数字经济发展对于产业链现代化的推动作用才逐渐显现,且随着科技创新和人力资本水平的不断提升,数字经济发展的促进作用将更加突出。本文研究有助于揭示数字经济对于产业链现代化的作用机制,可以为利用数字经济推动产业链现代化提供有益的政策启示。

With the development of digital technology,China has entered the era of digital economy.At present,the development of China's industrial chain faces the triple risk of “instability,weakness and insecurity”.The modernization of industrial chain is a strategic task for China's economic construction.What is the theoretical mechanism by which the digital economy influences the modernization of industrial chains? In order to answer this realistic proposition,this paper sorts out the intrinsic influence mechanism of digital economy development on China's industrial chain modernization from the theoretical level;on the basis of scientific measurement of digital economy development level and industrial chain modernization level,with the help of provincial panel data from 2011-2019,we empirically test the digital economy development on industrial chain modernization through various econometric models direct impact and indirect impact.Compared with the existing literature,the main contributions of this paper are follows:first,this paper explores the influence of digital economy development on industrial chain modernization for the first time,and systematically analyzes the theoretical mechanism of digital economy development on industrial chain modernization from multiple perspectives,and builds a research framework of digital economy and industrial chain modernization,which is a novel research perspective and research content,and is also a powerful supplement to the research on digital economy and industrial chain modernization.Second,this paper scientifically constructs the evaluation indexes of digital economy development and industrial chain modernization,reasonably measures the comprehensive index of digital economy development and industrial chain modernization,fills the gap of empirical research on industrial chain modernization,and the research conclusion is more convincing.Third,this paper takes advantage of the data to explore the general rule of digital economy acting on industrial chain modernization from two different dimensions:direct effect and indirect effect,which helps to reveal the importance of digital economy with digital technology as the core for fighting the hard battle of industrial chain modernization and provides useful policy inspiration for using digital economy to promote industrial chain modernization.The main research results are follows:Firstly,since 2011,the level of modernization of industrial chains in China has been increasing,but the problem of unbalanced regional development is significant.Secondly,the development of the digital economy can significantly promote the modernization of the industrial chain.In addition,when the modernization level of the industrial chain is low,the digital economy cannot fully play its role in promoting the modernization of the industrial chain;With the improvement of the modernization level of the industrial chain,the driving effect of the digital economy has begun to be significant.Thirdly,the digital economy can drive the modernization of regional industrial chains through technological innovation.The digital economy cultivates diverse innovation entities,promotes the evolution of innovation models,and promotes the continuous emergence of technological innovation.Technological innovation plays a mediating role in the process of promoting industrial chain modernization in the digital economy.Fourthly,the digital economy can enhance the modernization of regional industrial chains by optimizing the structure and level of human capital.The digital economy reduces the cost of acquiring knowledge and expands the scope of knowledge dissemination.As a “virtual wealth”,human capital can provide sufficient talent support and intellectual security for the modernization of industrial chains,thereby promoting the modernization of industrial chains.Based on the previous research conclusions,in order to improve the modernization level of the industrial chain,this paper proposes the following suggestions:firstly,vigorously develop the digital economy and promote the upgrading of the industrial chain;Secondly,mastering key technologies and strengthening industrial chain innovation;Thirdly,accelerate the construction of talent teams and cultivate digital talents.
