南阳汉画中樽的图像众多,按照考古学的分类根据其底足可分为四型:三足、圈足、台座和平底,其中三足型又可分为三个亚型:兽蹄足、柱足和锥足。其出现的场合和使用环境主要是舞乐百戏类,包括鼓舞、杂技、斗鸡等娱乐项目、拜谒宴饮类以及墓祀等祭祀社会活动,尤以舞乐百戏最为常见。樽与其他器物的组合关系分为五种:樽单独使用;樽搭配勺;樽搭配耳杯、卮;樽与壶搭配;樽与壶、圆盒、盆、碗、杯多种器物配套使用。对南阳汉画中的樽的图像考察,丰富了樽的文化内涵。樽上倒立表演具有被烫伤的危险性说法无据。
