The Long March:A Journey in China:the Construction of the Image of Red China

《长征》以波伏娃在中国的亲历亲闻,对中国的农业、工业、文化、政治、城市等进行了全面的书写,用雄辩的事实和精深的分析驳斥了西方主流意识形态操控的“红祸论”的文化偏见,建构起20世纪50年代被西方主流话语遮蔽的真实的红色中国形象。波伏娃的红色中国形象寄予了西方精英知识分子的政治理想,就其论证的深度及影响的广泛性而言堪称西方红色中国形象塑造的典范之作,其符码化的特点构成了其后同类文本中红色中国形象的稳定要素。今天,反观波伏娃眼中的中国形象,能够帮助我们在认识新中国历史的同时,促进对中国今天发展的思考。

Based on Beauvoir’s personal experience in China,the“Long March”comprehensively describes China’s agriculture,industry,culture,politics and cities,etc.With eloquent facts and profound analysis,this paper refutes the cultural bias of the“Red Disaster Theory”controlled by western mainstream ideology.This paper constructs the real image of Red China which was covered by western mainstream discourse in the 1950s.Beauvoir's image of Red China is based on the political ideal of the Western elite intellectuals.In terms of the depth of its argument and the wide range of its influence,it can be regarded as a model of the Western image of Red China,and its symbolic character constitutes a stable element of the image of Red China in the similar texts that followed it.Today,looking back at the image of China in the eyes of Beauvoir can helps us to understand the history of New China and at the same time promotes the reflections on China’s development.
