The culture of harmony has an important influence on Chinese gardens.The traditional thought of harmony is an important part of Chinese culture of harmony,including“Three Harmonies”:harmony between man and nature,harmony between man and society,and harmony between man’s spirit and body.Suzhou garden plaques and couplets directly,universally and fully express the traditional thought of“Three Harmonies”.There are double relations between worldliness and transcendence,internal world and external world,in which self harmony is the core.The study of the traditional thought of harmony in Suzhou garden plaques and couplets can not only help us to understand Chinese classical gardens in depth,but also exert a positive practical value for contemporary garden construction.
