摘要
随着各种基于量化指标的世界大学排行榜的风靡,大学的世界排名与其全球声誉直接挂钩,也同时与世界一流大学的叙事深度绑定,进而使参与世界大学排名这一全球大学的流行文化成为了大学通向成功的路径,并披上了神话的外衣。由于目前全球竞争指标在大学的科研表现、人才培养效果、国际化程度上的侧重,使得大学的社会服务职能一定程度上被忽略。随着越来越多的大学参与联合国可持续发展解决方案网络、泰晤士大学影响力排名的出现和学术界“为社会服务的高等教育国际化”概念的提出,大学社会服务职能全球竞争的图景逐渐显现。文章从罗兰·巴特对流行文化的解构形成的神话学视角,探讨大学社会服务职能成为全球大学竞争舞台的另一种选择的可能性。
With the popularity of various world university rankings based on quantitative indicators,university rankings have been directly linked to the global reputation and the narrative of world-class universities.As a result,this popular culture of competition has been mythologized,and universities tend to pursue it as a path to success.However,due to the current global competition only focusing on universities’academic performance,student cultivation,and internationalization,the social service role of universities has been consistently overlooked.As more universities engage in the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network,the appearance of the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking,and the introduction of the concept of higher education internationalization for society,the global competition landscape for the social service role of universities is gradually emerging.This article will explore the possibility of the social service role of universities as an alternative to the global university competition from the perspective of Roland Barthes’theory of the mythology of popular culture.
