Selenium is one of the necessary rare trace elements for human and animals.This paper analyzes the distribution and classification of selenium,its absorption and metabolism in animals,its demand in animal body,and its effects on animal growth performance,blood biochemical indexes,antioxidant performance and immune function.It provides a theoretical basis and reference for different selenium sources in the actual production of livestock and poultry.
