The Expansion and Strategy of the Northeastern Maritime Territory in the Sui and Tang Dynasties from the Perspective of Frontier Governance

东北地区是中国古代边疆治理中的重点区域。随着封建王朝统治者海洋意识的增强,东北海疆的特殊地位逐渐显现。在经略东北海疆时,隋唐王朝统治者以疆域拓展为基石,通过政区设置、军政结合等方式开展经略活动。隋唐时期对东北海疆的拓展与经略为后世东北海疆的整体轮廓打下了基础,为东北地区留下了丰富的政治、经济、军事、文化遗产。

Northeast China was the key area in the governance of ancient China’s border areas.With the enhancement of the feudal rulers’maritime consciousness,the special status of Northeast China’s maritime territory gradually emerged.When managing the maritime territory of the Northeast,the rulers of the Sui and Tang dynasties took the expansion of the territory as the cornerstone,and on this basis carried out their strategic activities through the establishment of political areas and the combination of military and political affairs.The expansion and strategy of the northeastern maritime territory in the Sui and Tang dynasties had a profound impact on the later generations,laid the foundation for the overall outline of the northeastern maritime territory in the later generations,left a rich political,economic,military and cultural heritage for the northeast region,and also provided valuable experience for the governance of the border ethnic areas.
