Impact of the Scale and Quality of Postgraduate Education on Urban-Rural Income Gap from the Perspective of Common Prosperity

基于2003-2019年我国31个省的面板数据,本研究运用固定效用模型,分析了研究生教育规模与质量对我国城乡收入差距产生的影响。实证结果表明,研究生教育规模的扩张与研究生教育质量的提升均能缩小城乡收入差距,从两者的系数绝对值来看,后者的积极作用更加显著。进一步分东中西样本进行探讨,发现研究生教育规模的扩张显著缩小了东部地区的城乡收入差距,对中、西部地区没有显著影响;而研究生教育质量提升能够显著抑制中、西部地区的城乡收入差距,但对东部地区的影响不显著。

Based on the panel data of 31 provinces in China from 2003 to 2019,this paper applies the fixed utility model to analyze the impact of the scale and quality of postgraduate education on the urban-rural income gap in China.The empirical results show that both the expansion of the scale of postgraduate education and the improvement of the quality of postgraduate education can reduce the urban-rural income gap.In terms of the absolute value of the coefficients of the two,the quality of postgraduate education shows a more significant positive effect.Further exploring the samples in the east,center and west,it is found that the expansion of the scale of postgraduate education significantly reduces the urban-rural income gap in the eastern region,and has no significant effect on the central and western regions;while the improvement of the quality of postgraduate education can significantly inhibit the urban-rural income gap in the central and western regions,but the effect on the eastern region is insignificant.
