Traditional Cultural Foundations for the Acceptance of Marxism by Members of Xinmin Institute

从“革新学术,砥砺品行,改良人心风俗”,到通过马克思主义的无产阶级专政以“改造中国与世界”,新民学会大多数会员之所以选择、接受马克思主义,有最深层次的传统文化基础。儒家“修身、齐家、治国、平天下”的社会理想和救世济民的慈悲情怀是这一群体接受马克思主义的深层动力;马克思主义的科学社会主义与中国传统儒家大同理想的契合性是这一群体接受马克思主义的心理认同基础;以及湖湘传统文化中“知行合一”的经世之学、“以天下为己任”的爱国情怀、“日新不息”的进取精神为这一群体接受马克思主义奠定地方文化根基。

From"innovating academia cultivating character and improving people's customs to"transforming China and the world through the Marxist dictatorship of the proletariat the reason why most members of Xinmin Institute choose and accept Marxism has the deepest Traditional cultural foundation.The Confucian social ideal of"cultivating one's moral character regulating one's family governing the States and leveling the world and the compassionate feelings of saving the world and benefiting the people are the deep motivation for this group to accept Marxism.The compatibility between Marxist scientific socialism and the ideal of great harmony in traditional Chinese Confucianism is the basis of psychological identity for this group to accept Marxism.And in Hu⁃Xiang culture the study of"unity of theory and practice the patriotic feelings of"taking the world as one's own responsibility and the enterprising spirit of"constantly innovating laid the local cultural foundation for this group to accept Marxism.
