On Feng Youlan’s Transformation and Innovation of Confucian Ethics

儒家伦理的转化创新既是儒学现代化的需要,也是中国现代伦理建构的重要课题。作为现代新儒家重要代表的冯友兰一直致力于研究中国传统文化的继承和发展问题。在伦理观上,冯友兰力图澄清人们对儒家伦理的某些误解并对儒家伦理的内在价值予以肯定。他创造性地以“新理学”为儒家伦理提供形上学基础,同时结合唯物史观提出道德层次论,还通过辨名析理、抽象继承等方法探索转化创新的具体方式或途径,这些研究对我们今天进一步思考儒家伦理的转化创新和新时代具有中国特色社会主义伦理的建构问题具有重要的借鉴意义。

The transformation and innovation of Confucian ethics is both a need for the modernization of Confucianism and an important issue in the construction of modern Chinese ethics.As an important representative of Contemporary New Confucianism,Feng Youlan has been devoted to the study of the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese culture.In terms of ethics,Feng Youlan tried to clarify some misunderstandings of Confucian ethics and affirmed the intrinsic value of Confucian ethics.He creatively provided the metaphysical basis for Confucian ethics with the“Neo Confucianism”and put forward the theory of moral hierarchy in combination with historical materialism.He also explored the specific ways or means of transformation and innovation through methods such as distinguishing names,analyzing theories,and abstract inheritance.These studies have important reference significance for us to further think about the transformation and innovation of Confucian ethics and the construction of socialist ethics with Chinese characteristics in the new era today.
