The Danish pig farming industry has the advanced technology and mature system in an international leading position in all aspects,so Denmark is a veritable pig farming country. With the gradual increasing maturity and decreasing cost of high-throughput sequencing,Denmark has carried out large-scale genome selective breeding of Danish pig breeds to further accelerate genetic progress and improve production efficiency. This review article mainly summarizes the origin and breeding mode of Danish pig breeds, the genetic mechanism revelation and marker identification of important economic traits, the genome-wide predictive model and method, and the research progress of Chinese pig genetic breeding, etc. The summarized aspects analyzed the current situation, strategy and future development trend of Danish pig selective breeding that aim to provide the theoretical and reference basis for improving pig production performance in our country.
