“Red”transforms from a color category in the traditional sense to the political concept with the meaning of“revolution”.The main reason is because its implied meaning“revolution”was borrowed from abroad around 1920s.As for its communication channels,it is primarily reflected in the reports of revolutionary movements in European countries such as Russia,as well as the other countries like Japan and the United States. After the mid-1920s,as the relationship between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China tended to break down, and the Kuomintang merged with Northern Warlords, the meaning of“revolution”in“get red”and“red terror”began to ferment. With the self-identification of the newspapers, periodicals and textbooks edited by the Communist Party, the“revolutionary”connotation of the word“red”was finally fixed in the 1930s.
