Weakening vassal states was a representative measure taken in Western Han Dynasty to govern and stabilize the country. The historical circle generally believes that the "Enlightened Administration of the Han Emperors Wen and Jing" marks theinheritance and development of the ideology of "non-action of the Yellow Emperor and Laozi." This paper believes that weakeningvassal states marks the beginning of Western Han Dynasty's governance reform, reflecting Emperor Jing's concept of "action-based"governance. Due to the strong power of the vassal states threatening the central government, the need for appropriate territories forthe princes and other factors, the policy of weakening vassal states was boldly implemented, which effectively suppressed theRebellion of the Seven States and strengthened the political reform of the kingdom, laying a foundation for Emperor Wu's policy ofweakening vassal states.
