《桃花源记》英译的四生论解读

On the English Translation of Peach Blossom Garden from the Perspective of Four Life Theory

“尚生、摄生、转生、化生”是生态翻译学的最新理论进展,体现了该理论一贯倡导的“生生与共”思想,为典籍英译提供了生态翻译的理论指导。从四生论对比分析《桃花源记》林语堂和戴维斯两个英译本发现,两位译者在崇尚生命、获取生命、转化生命、运化生命的翻译过程中妙笔生花,各显神通,二者虽路径不同,各有千秋,但都在不同程度上实现了文本移植过程中原文生命的复活和译文生命的延续,有力地验证了生态翻译学的学术思想。中国翻译理论需要向世界翻译学研究贡献中国智慧,推动中国文化“走出去”,为促进中西文化交流提供来自东方的理论框架。

"Living,absorbing,reincarnating and transforming"is the latest theoretical development of ecological translation,which embodies its advocated idea of"living together",and provides the theoretical guidance for the English translation of ancient classics.A comparative analysis of Lin Yutang and Davis's two English versions of Peach Blossom Garden from the perspective of the theory of four lives shows that the two translators have their own unique skills in the translation process of advocating life,acquiring life,reincarnating life and transforming life.Although they have different paths and their own advantages and disadvantages,both have realized the resurrection of the original life and the continuation of the translated life in the process of text transplantation to varying degrees,which has effectively verified the academic thinking of eco-translatology.Chinese translation theory needs to contribute Chinese wisdom to the world's translation studies,and provide a theoretical framework from the East for building cultural confidence,telling Chinese stories,transmitting Chinese voices,promoting Chinese culture going global,and promoting cultural exchanges between China and the West.
