以传统作为参照系——贡布里希对现代艺术观念的理解与批评

摘要 贡布里希对现代艺术思潮的关切与他对西方艺术传统的研究密不可分。他追源溯流,把表现主义、原始主义、立体主义等现代艺术运动联入西方艺术史的整体叙事之中;通过对个别艺术家、艺术作品的独到阐发,呈现现代艺术观念图景的复杂画面;从具体的文化传统与艺术语境入手,分析现代艺术思潮所面临的危机与挑战;克服与现代艺术相关的流行见解,同时也拆解抽象措辞对现代艺术进行的理论虚构。贡布里希对现代艺术观念的阐释力度源于他以传统为参照系,通过艺术史叙述,让传统思想和当下观念互鉴,使传统成为深刻理解当下和承载未来可能性的源头活水。 Gombrich's concern about the ideological trend of modern art is inseparable from his research on the western art tradition.By tracing back to its origin,he integrates various modern art movements such as Expressionism,Primitivism,and Cubism into the overall narrative of western art history.By offering a unique analysis of individual artists and art works,he presents a complex picture of the ideas on modern art.By elaborating the specific cultural traditions and artistic contexts,he analyzes the crisis and challenges faced by the ideological trend of modern art,overcomes the vulgar opinions related to modern art,and dismantles the abstract theory of it at the same time.Gombrich's interpretations of modern art stem from the fact that he takes tradition as a frame of reference,makes traditional thoughts and popular ideas learn from each other by virtue of art history,and renders traditional thoughts the source of deepening the understanding of the present and bearing the possibilities of the future.
