从体认语言学看《儒林外史》话题标记词英译

English Translation of Topic Markers in The Scholars from the Perspective of Embodied-Cognitive Linguistics

摘要 《儒林外史》作为中国古代小说的经典代表作品,被译为多国语言传播海内外,其独具中国特色的话题标记语,不仅使文章生动鲜明,同时也是翻译的难点所在。而体认语言学在充分参考中国语言环境发展的基础上,对中国文化外译的指导作用日益凸显。故此,该文从体认语言学视角出发,以杨宪益、戴乃迭英译本为案例来源,分析《儒林外史》中译者对于前置话题标记与后置话题标记的英译,比较同一类型话题标记语采取不同译法的体认语言学依据,进而论证体认语言学对于话题标记语英译理论指导的可行性,以期从体认语言学角度为《儒林外史》及类似中文优秀作品英译提供一定的理论支持,为中国优秀文学作品的外译实践带来一点启发。 As the classical work of traditional Chinese literature, The Scholars has been translated into various languages and widely spread to both home and abroad. The unique expressions on topic markers in the book, which fully represents the Chinese characteristics, not only described the images vividly, but also increased the difficulties in translation. The Embodied-Cognitive Linguistics, with full reference to the development of the Chinese linguistic environment, has become increasingly useful as a guide for translating Chinese culture abroad. Therefore, based on the version translated by Yang Xianyi and his wife Gladys, the essay mainly analyzes the C-E translation of topic markers in The Scholars from the perspective of Embodied-Cognitive Linguistics by analyzing and comparing the topic marker sentences and their translation, and then gets the theoretical foundation for different translation methods that were used to translate the topic markers of the same type so as to prove the feasibility of Embodied-Cognitive Linguistics in the C-E translation of topic markers. By doing so, the author hopes to provide both theoretical basis for the E-C translation of extraordinary Chinese literature works and the inspiration of the translation practice.
