传统复兴与中国经验——海外视野下的白先勇青春版《牡丹亭》改编与传播

摘要 青春版昆曲《牡丹亭》是由著名海外华文作家白先勇主持制作的戏剧精品,自问世以来好评如潮。其成功与白先勇在海外视角下重新审视传统文化、把握当下时代脉搏、重塑古典美学中国的文艺复兴理念息息相关。白先勇的青春版《牡丹亭》汇聚两岸三地艺术精英,打造了一个文艺复兴的舞台艺术精品。从《牡丹亭》的艺术改编来看,具有鲜明的琴曲书画、舞台空间等多种艺术形式跨界、现代和传统、高雅表达与底层文化相融合的特点,体现出了“昆曲新美学”的追求,这一艺术追求与白先勇横跨海峡两岸暨香港地区、澳门地区、游走大洋彼岸、对古典创新的深刻体察密不可分。从青春版《牡丹亭》的传播来看,团队坚持原班人马,借助国际化视角下的大学场域、公共空间、视觉文化设计、精准定位受众群体等手段,青春版《牡丹亭》成为继梅兰芳之后最盛大的中国戏曲事件,还传播到美国、英国、希腊、新加坡等国家,十多年来在国内外演出近400场,掀起了“昆曲热”“古典文化热”。青春版《牡丹亭》成为一个重要的文化现象,为复兴中国民族文化、重塑古典美学中国提供了可资借鉴的中国经验。 The youthful version of Peony Pavilion,in a Kunqu opera,is a dramatic masterpiece produced under the direction of Hsien-yung Pai,a well-known overseas Chinese writer and has won rave reviews after its first production,its success closely related to the way in which Pai re-examines the traditional culture from an overseas perspective,takes the pulse of the times and re-shapes the ideas of renaissance in the classical and aesthetic China.This version of Peony Pavilion has gathered the best of the artistic talents from China,Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan and created a masterpiece of stage art of renaissance,its artistic adaptation characterized by multiple forms of instruments,music,calligraphy,painting and stage space,where expressions of boundary-crossing,modernity,tradition and elegance are integrated with the culture at the bottom of the society,reflecting the pursuit of new aesthetics of Kunqu opera.This artistic pursuit is closely associated with Mr Pai’s profound experience of classical creation as he travelled through China,Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan and across the ocean.In relation to the transmission of the youthful version of Peony Pavilion,the team remained unchanged in terms of its original members.By utilizing such measures as university sites,public space,visual cultural design and accurate positioning of the audiences,in an international context,this version of Peony Pavilion became the largest dramatic event in China since Mei Lanfang apart from being shown in such countries as the USA,the UK,Greece and Singapore,for nearly 400 show at home and abroad,setting off a Kunqu opera fever and classical cultural fever.The youthful version of Peony Pavilion has become an important cultural phenomenon,providing a Chinese experience that can be learnt in reviving Chinese culture,re-shaping a classical and beautiful China.
