In this paper, the coupling response characteristics of ultra-wideband high power pulse(UWBHPP)to exposed cable are analyzed by using CST simulation based on finite difference time domain(FDTD)method.Firstly, based on FDTD algorithm, the exposed cable laid along the horizontal direction is modeled. Then, the cable coupling signal results under different UWBHPP signals and different cable lengths are calculated when the UWBHPP vertically irradiates exposed the cables 10 cm above the ground. Finally, the relationships between the peak value of cable coupling voltage and the rising time of coupling voltage with cable length are analyzed, respectively. The simulation results show that the peak coupling voltage of the exposed wire first increases with the increase of cable length, and finally the coupling voltage of exposed wire tends to be stable. Also, the rising time of coupling voltage signal tends to be stable with the increase of cable length. The UWBHPP with similar pulse widths and different rising time have little impact on the coupling signal, while the UWBHPP with similar rising time and different pulse widths have a greater impact on the coupling signal. The simulation results provide a reference for the electromagnetic protection design of cables.
