Video Archaeology:Discourse Struggle and"Imagination of the Other"--Audiovisual Record of the Documentary Music in China

英国纪录片导演杰里米·马尔(Jeremy Marre)拍摄的《1984年的中国音乐景观》(Music in China)记录了中国20世纪80年代初期的音乐生活的发展境况,描绘了中国各大城市与乡村在这一时期的历史面貌,以此反映当时中国的经济面貌、文化精神的现代性转向。影片将音乐作为主要的叙事线索,潜在地表达着来自“他者”的批判性审视,进而将西方意识形态话语与影像的历史文本进行“缝合”,绘制出一副80年代初期中国的音乐文化与社会生活景观图谱,建构起西方视角下的“想象性中国”,并同时暗含了来自西方本位的批判性话语。

The Music Landscape of China in 1984,shot by the British documentary director Jeremy Marre,recorded the development of China's music life in the early 1980s,and described the historical features of China's major cities and countryside in this period,so as to reflect China's economic outlook and cultural spirit of modernity at that time.The film takes music as the main narrative clue,potentially expressing the critical review from the"other",and then"stitches"the western ideological discourse and the historical text of the image,drawing a map of China's music culture and social life landscape in the early 1980s,building a"imaginative China"from the western perspective,and implies the critical discourse from the western standard at the same time.
