A portable methane detection alarm is one of the safety devices for coal mine work,and this article ana‐lyzes the two main aspects of its use and maintenance.Firstly,this paper briefly expounds the system principle of the portable methane detection alarm and then analyzes its usage precautions from the several aspects of usage specifica‐tions,battery power supply inspection,displayed value stability,basic errors and alarm functions,and then it studies its maintenance measures,aiming to improve the performance and using effect of the portable methane detection alarm and ensure the safety of coal miners.
