The prevalence of"easy courses"in elective general courses at universities is due to market failure and inadequate regulation.To address this issue,universities should change their educational philosophy,enhance teaching management,recognize the need to restrain and strengthen market relationships in elective general course construction,and use regulatory measures sensibly.These measures should curb inappropriate transactions between teachers and students regarding workload and grades,incentivize and guide teachers to invest in elective general course development,and ensure that universities can receive highquality elective general courses from teachers,so as to provide students with better educational resources.By effectively employing both the"market"and"regulation"approaches,universities can also create their own"golden courses"that suit their needs.
