The manufacturing process of pressure vessels would generate residual stress,which would have a significant impact on the safety and performance of these components.The various sources of residual stress in pressure vessel manufacturing and the current techniques available for measuring these stresses had been explored.The three main sources of residual stress in pressure vessel manufacturing included material processing,welding,and assembly.The techniques used to measure residual stress,including X-ray diffraction,neutron diffraction,and drilling,had been discussed.By discussing and deepening the understanding of residual stresses in the manufacturing process of pressure vessels,design and manufacturing processes could be improved,ultimately improving the safety and performance of these key components.
