Correction for the Jiangxi Part of “The Records of Ancient Chinese Academies”

《天下书院总志》为清乾隆时期著名学者王昶编纂的书院专志,由于未刻印,世所罕见。《天下书院总志》编制体例以直省、府、州县(厅)为单位,将书院归置于州县(厅)之下。每一书院有简介,多则数百字,少则寥寥数字。部分书院除简况外,更附有记、序等文。这一体例疏朗简洁,既便于按地查阅,更有助于读者了解书院的概况与影响等。但是,由于《天下书院总志》主要参考文献为地方志,加之定稿时王昶年弱体衰,对地方史料难以一一核对、考校,故存在一定的讹误。其中篇幅最重的江西省书院存在诗文误记、属地矛盾、内容混淆等问题。因之,对其中的问题进行勘误,避免学界引用时出现讹误颇有必要。

The Records of Ancient Chinese Academies,compiled by Wang Chang,a famous scholar in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty,is rare in the world as it has never been printed.It is compiled in the form of direct provinces,prefectures and counties(departments),and the academies are placed under the prefectures and counties(departments).Each academy has a profile,with hundreds of words or just a few figures.In addition to this,some academies also have notes and prefaces.This style is simple and concise,which is not only convenient for readers to consult the academy,but also helps readers to understand the general situation and influence of academies.However,because the main reference works of the Records of Ancient Chinese Academies are local records,and Wang Changhe was physically weak and frail when he compiled the final draft,it was difficult to check and calibrate the local historical materials one by one,so there were certain errors.Among them,the most important Jiangxi Academy has such problems as misrecording of poems,territorial contradictions and content confusion.Therefore,it is necessary to errata the problems,so as to avoid errors in the academic citation.
