无论是传统科学实在论还是结构实在论,都面临着无法固定理论谓词指称的问题。诸多诉诸指称不确定性的反实在论论证在模型论上都可以归结为同一个现象,那就是理论与预期模型之间的对应关系不唯一,理论无法选定唯一的预期模型。从模型论角度对这一问题的考察将表明,一个可行的科学实在论方案需要在语义学主张上作出让步。

Standard scientific realism and structural realism face the same difficulty in fixing a uniquereference mapping between predicates and the domain.This referential indeterminacy is resulted from the model-theoretic fact that realists cannot pick up exclusively their intended model.A model-theoretic analysis of this issuewill suggest that to remain as a viable proposal scientific realism has to make concession on its semantic claim.
