The properties,applications and production process of tetraoctyl pyromellitate(TOPM)are introduced sincerely,and the types of catalysts and production process used in the synthesis of TOPM are discussed in detail.The type of catalysts include acid catalyst,non acid catalyst and solid acid catalyst.The solid acid catalyst has the advantages of high catalytic efficiency,long service life and easy to industrialize,which is the most promising catalyst at present.The production process of TOPM include batch process,semi-continuous process and continuous process.Since the continuous process has the advantages of low cost on raw materials,low energy consumption,high production efficiency and stable product quality,the investigation of continuous production is of far-reaching significance.
