CHIVA is a minimally invasive treatment method for varicose veins under local anesthesia based on rigorous Doppler ultrasound examination.This method breaks the traditional treatment concept of lower extremity varicose veins and fully integrates the concept of hemodynamics with the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases.It preserves the superficial venous drainage network while treating proximal reflux points to remove overloaded blood flow,achieving the goal of treating venous hypertension.This article compares the principles,advantages and disadvantages,and therapeutic effects of CHIVA,indicating that CHIVA is a feasible alternative surgery for treating varicose veins.Compared with traditional saphenous vein dissection,its main advantages include preserving the saphenous vein,local anesthesia,low recurrence rate,low cost,low pain,and no nerve damage.At the same time,the hemodynamic concept in CHIVA can be used to achieve more accurate treatment based on any current treatment method.The main drawbacks of CHIVA are the need for precise ultrasound evaluation before surgery,a long learning curve,and the need to train a venous hemodynamics team.
