Status quo and Future Development Path of Higher Education Integration between China's Mainland and Taiwan in the New Era

高等教育在推进两岸社会融合发展中起着搭桥铺路的重要作用。自改革开放以来,两岸高等教育合作已取得长足进步,但囿于两岸政治生态和高等教育的差异性,以及国家认同的争议性,两岸高等教育合作呈现间断性、非均衡性的发展态势。立足两岸高等教育发展的现实困境,其一体化建设之路应以共同价值促进理念融合,以政府引领构建多元主体,以制度建设弥合高等教育体制差异,以共同利益和情感推动社会融合。

Improving the cross-strait relationship between Taiwan and China's Mainland is a crucial national strategy.As the main site of cross-strait integration,higher education plays an important role in promoting peaceful development between China's Mainland and Taiwan.Since the opening-up reforms,there has been a great leap in terms of the depth and breadth of integration.However,due to the severe political environment,the disagreement of national identity among citizens and the heterogeneity of higher education systems,higher education integration across the strait experienced a series of ups and downs,and traveled in a fragmented and off-again way.Drawing on the dilemma of integrating cross-strait higher education systems,it should be developed through establishing common values,building a multi-actor governance mechanism,improving institutional construction and seeking mutual interests and emotions to promote social integration.
