本末甚明:论陆九渊对颜回之学的阐释

The Clarity of Sequence:Lu Jiuyuan's Interpretation of Yan Hui's Theory

“本末”指《大学》提出的为学和修身所应当遵循的先后、始终之序列,其开端于“知止”,完成于“至善”。陆九渊以“本末甚明”概括颜回之学,并认为颜回之学的“本末甚明”体现在:其暗合于象山心学的发明本心、得其本心、复其本心的成己进路,去私为这一过程提供保障,克己则使颜回最终实现复心、复礼、复理,进而成就仁德与至善。陆九渊对颜回之学的阐释不仅具有深厚的心学意蕴,强调本心在成己过程中的中枢作用,还影响了包括王阳明在内的后世心学家,亦与朱子理学形成有效对话,显发易简工夫。

"The essence and the end"refers to the sequence that should be followed for learning and self-cultivation proposed in The Great Learning,which begins with"knowing the essence of learn⁃ing"and completes with"supreme goodness".Lu Jiuyuan summarizes Yan Hui's theory as"the es⁃sence and the end being very clear",and believes that the clarity of Yan Hui's theory is reflected in its approach of finding,acquiring and restoring one's original mind,which is implicit in Lu Jiuyuan's heart-mind theory.Eliminating unreasonable thoughts provides a guarantee for this process,and selfmanagement makes Yan Hui finally achieve his mind,the Li,and the highest good,and then achieve virtue and goodness.Lu Jiuyuan's interpretation of Yan Hui's theory emphasizes the central role of the original mind in the process of self-development,and affects later generations of heart-mind theory,in⁃cluding Wang Yangming.It also forms an effective dialogue with Zhu Zi's Neo-Confucianism.
