The causes and mechanisms of common problems in stiffening finishing were analyzed and discussed,such as free formaldehyde on cloth,fishy smell,white scratch,softening back and stiffening agent stripping process.It also promoted a corresponding solution to reduce or overcome the problems by selecting the right type of stiffening agents and controlling the process effectively.The necessary references and guid-ance in the follow-up stiffening finish process was provided.
