In order to further clarify the key points and principles of expressway route selection in mega-city plain area,taking the practice of route selection in the west extension section of the north highway of Beijing Daxing International Airport as an exemplar,this paper focuses on the route comparison and selection process from the aspects of rationality of road network layout,social and environmental impact(sensitive points),engineering implementability,geological conditions and structure,social environmental impact,land requisition and demolition and cost.The main points and key principles of highway route selection in mega-city plain area are summarized,which can provide reference for the design of other similar projects.
