摘要
孔子的君子观蕴含着丰富的博雅教育思想。从“学为君子”的教育理想、“君子不器”的人才范式、“文质彬彬”的修身之道、“和而不同”的教学智慧四方面探讨孔子的君子观对现代大学博雅教育的启示,博雅教育不应只是西方liberal arts education或general education的在地化实践,而应是具有中国人文精神的君子教育,除传授广博的知识外,更要重视理想人格的养成、生命境界的提升。大学开展博雅教育不仅要吸纳西方先进教育理念,更应激活中国自己的文教传统,从中发掘教育的源头活水,克服狭隘的专业主义、实用主义、工具主义倾向,点亮生命,塑造灵魂。
Confucius concept of “gentleman”contains rich thoughts in liberal arts education.Its enlightenment to modern university liberal arts education is explored from four aspects:the educational ideal of “learning to be a gentleman”,the talent-training paradigm of“gentlemen being not a mere implement”,the way of self-cultivation of being “cultured and natural”,and the teaching wisdom of disagreeing to“ reach an agreement”.The liberal arts education in China s universities should not be the mere localized practice of the Western liberal arts education or general education,but the gentleman-oriented education with Chinese humanistic spirit,which stresses not only imparting extensive knowledge but also cultivating ideal personality and enhancing life state.Our liberal arts education should not only absorb the advanced educational concepts of the West,but more importantly activate our own cultural and educational traditions so as to explore the sources of education and overcome the narrow-minded professionalism,pragmatism and instrumentalism.Only in this way can our liberal arts education illumine the life and mould the soul.
