The article mainly discusses the collocation licensing of negation and modal for verbal reduplication,and the affirmative reinforcement of verbal reduplication in non-realistic contexts.Previous studies have shown that the negation of verbal reduplication requires non-realistic contexts,but the motivation and the mechanism for such contexts are not explained.Based on the previous studies,the article further points out that the negation of reduplication is restricted to non-realistic contexts and is motivated by reverse affirmation,and that the commonality of all kinds of non-realistic contexts is the assumption of negation,the questioning of negation,and thus the“affirmative reinforcement”.
