摘要
实施国际化战略对创新具有重要意义,然而现有研究对其中介和调节机制揭示不足。通过构建一个被调节的中介模型,对国际化程度、国际创新网络伙伴多样化和国际化经验影响创新绩效的机制进行研究。研究发现,国际创新网络伙伴(地理、组织)多样化在国际化程度与创新绩效间起部分中介作用;国际化经验正向调节国际化程度与国际创新网络伙伴多样化之间的关系;国际化经验正向调节国际创新网络伙伴多样化在国际化程度与创新绩效之间的中介作用,即国际化经验越高,国际创新网络伙伴多样化发挥的中介作用越强。研究结论为揭示国际化影响创新绩效的内在机制提供了新思路,对思考如何通过国际化提升创新绩效具有实践启示。
Implementing international strategy is of great significance to firm’s innovation,but there is still controversy in the academic circles on whether internationalization can promote innovation.Existing studiesrely on the resource-based view to explain the innovation effect of internationalization.The resource acquisition school believes that firms entering the international market can obtain novel knowledge and complementary resources required for innovation,thereby promoting the improvement of innovation performance.However,the resource consumption school believes that many firms do not obtain valuable resources from the international market,On the contrary,it consumes originally limited management and financial resources,and ultimately inhibits firms’innovation.The contradictory conclusions imply that the mediating mechanisms and contextual conditions of internationalization affecting innovation performance need to be further explored.Through constructing a moderated mediation model,it explores the impacting mechanism of the degree of internationalization,networkdiversity of international innovation partnerand international experience on innovation performance.Following previous literature studies in the field of international business and strategic management,internationalization is defined as a market diversification strategy that crosses geographic boundaries,and the degree of internationalization is used as a measure.Networkdiversity of international innovation partner includes two dimensions of geographical diversity and organizational diversity.Geographical diversity of international innovation network partners indicates the degree to which international innovation network partners come from different countries,and organizational diversity of international innovation network partners indicates the degree that international innovation network partners are organized in different types,including customers,suppliers,universities and research institutes,peers in the same industry,government.The study selects the manufacturing enterprises disclosed in the“2019 China Listed Company Innovation Index Report”as the research object.The findingsshow that geographical diversity and organizational diversity of international innovation partners play a partialmediating role between the degree of internationalization and innovation performance;internationalexperience positively moderates the relationship between the degree of internationalization and network diversity of international innovation partner.Internationalexperience positively moderates themediation role of network diversity of international innovation partneron the relationship between the degree of internationalization and innovation performance,that is,the higher the international experience,the stronger the mediation role of geographical diversity and organizational diversity play.The research provides new ideas for revealing the internal mechanism of the degree of internationalization on innovation performance,and have practical enlightenment for thinking about how to implement international strategy to improve innovation performance.First,firms should regard the international market as an important strategic channel for improving innovation performance,and focus on acquiring complementary resources for innovation through internationalization.Secondly,firms should attach great importance to establishing a diversified international innovation network after entering the international market.On the one hand,they should actively establish cooperative relations with innovation network partners in different countries,and on the other hand,they should actively establish cooperative relations with innovation network partners of different organizationaltypes(such as customers,suppliers,competitors,universities and research institutions,governments).Finally,firms should also attach importance to the accumulation of international experience,and actively collect information(including organizational culture,technical characteristics,organizational needs,etc.),providing foundation for partnership building and innovation performance improvement.
