摘要
Foreign body responses(FBR)refer to the host tissue’s response to implanted biomaterials and medical devices,which are implanted in the body to repair tissue,deliver drugs or diagnose diseases.One might link this term only to those installed with prothesis or undergoing cell-based therapies,but the fact is that FBR take place much more commonly than that and are not limited to any specific type of medical intervention.In 2015,doctors found a surgical swab in the abdomen of an 85-year-old man admitted with an ischemic stroke.
