In his famous play,Look Back in Anger,the British playwright,John Osborne,implicitly expresses the subversion and reconstruction of the traditional marriage ethics caused by World War II by constructing a tragic conjugal relationship between Jimmy,a post-war“scholarship boy”,and Alison,his wife of the upper class.The play masters the dramatic language of style of cynics to depict a marriage plight between the“animal”with no ethical consciousness and the“human”during the post-war era.It sheds light on the harsh realities of war,highlighting how subjective identities,configuration of gender structure,and cognitive construction are all susceptible to being influenced.Furthermore,it portrays the emotional alienation and ethical dilemmas experienced by the first young generation in post-war Britain,while also serving as a platform for Osborne to artistically express his ideas on post-war marriage ethics.
