This paper collates and summarises the contributions of the scholars most closely associated with the study of urban morphology and its related contributions and provides a comprehensive account of the historical development of the urban morphology concept.At the same time,the paper assesses the current state of scholarship.It summarises the current innovations in the analytical approach to urban morphology and the latest developments in the discipline from different perspectives,with urban morphology research based on quantitative thinking,resilience theory,and sustainable development developing rapidly and gradually,differentiating itself from traditional urban morphology.
