Objective To provide a scoping review of the application of virtual reality technology in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods Guided by the scoping review guidance proposed by Joanna Briggs Institute,a systematic search was conducted on PubMed,Scopus,Embase,OVID,SinoMed,Web of Science,China National Knowledge Infrastructure,WanFang Data, and VIP.The search period was from database establishment to March 2023.The included literature was sorted and analyzed. Results A total of 19 articles were included. The intervention forms of virtual reality technology mainly included device type, exercise mode, and exercise plan. The intervention duration was usually 2,4,or 8 weeks.Outcome indicators included motor function, lung function, degree of difficulty breathing, cognitive function and so on.There was no article reported on adverse events related to the virtual reality technology. Conclusions The application of virtual reality technology in rehabilitation exercise in COPD patients is feasible and has certain effects. In the future, multicenter and high-quality research is still needed to perfect the effectiveness evaluation indicators of virtual reality technology in exercise rehabilitation of COPD patients and improve the quality of rehabilitation exercise based on virtual reality technology.
